Sen. Dan Coats, a Republican from Indiana, accidentally showed up at the wrong Senate subcommittee hearing on Thursday, but didn't realize his error right away.

After delivering an opening speech, followed by a question about the Defense Finance Accounting Services' system, one of Coats' staffers leaned over and handed the senator a note.

"I just got a note saying I'm at the wrong hearing," Coats said. "I've got the right room number but the wrong hearing."

The room shared a collective laugh while Coats, smiling, added, "This is the first time this has ever happened to me ... I saw some familiar faces and I thought this is where I should be."
