Let Me Start: Obama Meets the Press


President Obama will hold his first news conference since winning re-election today. The Petraeus scandal and the fiscal cliff negotiations will no doubt dominate.

The president will meet Friday with congressional leaders about the budget talks. Yesterday he told labor leaders and progressive he’s vowing to stand firm against pressure from Congressional Republicans in those negotiations.

Blowing the dog whistle: Vanquished vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan blames the “urban” vote for President Obama’s re-election victory last week.

Ryan also says President Obama doesn’t have a mandate to raise taxes.

A lawmaker in Montana is requesting he be paid in gold because he doesn’t have faith in the U.S. dollar.
