This says everything about today’s Republican Party, and the massive, automatic spending cuts that are now upon us: House Republicans cheered Speaker John Boehner when he cut off negotiations with the White House over the sequester. As The New York Times puts it, for the GOP, the best negotiations are no negotiations. After all, Speaker Boehner knows he has more to lose by talking with President Obama and possibly cutting a deal that involves an increase in revenue, something that is a non-starter for Tea Party Republicans.

The Obama Administration is urging the Supreme Court to reject California’s ban on gay marriage, arguing that denying gay couples the right to marry violates the Constitution’s equal protection clause.

Bob Woodward has emerged the unlikeliest of heroes to conservatives. Woodward – the reporter who helped break Watergate that led to the downfall of a Republican president – publicly criticized the White House and is being lionized by the right because of it. Woodward has done plenty of interviews to make his case, but is his criticism of the Obama administration fair? Or is he being over-sensitive?
