Politico’s top story this morning is about the Democrats’ ambitious plan to turn the deep red state of Texas blue. As demographics shift in their favor, Democrats are launching a major initiative to make the Lone Star State competitive.

Gun Safety: Some Senate Democrats are facing resistance at home over any additional gun safety measures. In West Virginia, Sen. Joe Manchin has become a barometer of what gun control proposals Democrats can expect to get done. In a pro-hunting red state like West Virginia, a lot of voters have a lot of anxiety about what they see as a slippery slope on gun control.
