Who’s More American?

The presidential campaign between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney is boiling down to a fight where each side is trying to portray the other guy as not like the rest of us. Romney charges that Obama doesn’t “believe in America” while Obama looks to paint Romney as a rich guy who sent jobs and his own bank accounts overseas. Which narrative will win the day? This won’t help the Republican effort to downplay President Obama’s decision to get bin Laden: Adm. Bill McRaven, head of U.S. Special Operations Command who oversaw the bin Laden raid, called the president “fantastic” and said that “at the end of the day, make no mistake about it, it was the president of the United States that shouldered the burden of this operation, that made the hard decision.”
