Jobs Report Friday

On the first Friday of every month between now and November, the White House will anxiously wait for the jobs numbers. And today’s are a mixed bag at best. The economy added 163,000 jobs – higher than analysts expected – as hiring picked up in July, but the all-important unemployment rate ticked up to 8.3%.

 

The fairness argument: Can the Obama campaign make the case that Mitt Romney wants to engage in class warfare that would take money from the middle classes and give it to the rich?

 

Paul Krugman writes that it’s the scorched-earth policies of Republicans to blame for the middling economy and not the mistakes of President Obama.
