Today Rick Perry dropped out of the race and endorsed Newt Gingrich, the Iowa GOP declared that Rick Santorum received more votes in the caucus than Mitt Romney did, and Newt’s second ex-wife opened up in an on-camera interview. We’re covering it all tonight with msnbc Political Analysts and co-authors of Game Change, Mark Halperin and John Heilemann.

Just earlier this week, Mitt’s name at the top of the GOP ticket was thought to be inevitable...but new polls show momentum behind Newt Gingrich, especially on the heels of Rick Perry’s endorsement. We’ll talk it over with Politico’s Jonathan Martin and the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank.

Next up: Obama plays defense! A new ad went up today in key states for the coming election. We’ll show it to you tonight and talk with DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and author and political commentator Ron Reagan.

Plus, former First Lady of South Carolina Jenny Sanford joins us for “The Hardball Interview.” She’ll talk 2012 politics and weigh in on Newt’s ex-wife’s interview. Don’t miss it!
