‘The Slants’ win right to trademark band name
The Federal Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the name of the Asian American rock band, “The Slants,” is protected by the First Amendment and the government cannot deny the band a trademark because some might consider their name derogatory or offensive. A similar case regarding the trademark of the Washington Redskins is under review.
