The Trail: Close gubernatorial races in battleground states

Chuck Todd, Ed Rendell, and Michael Steele discuss the possibility of run-offs in key Senate races, as well as the state of key gubernatorial races.

With only days to go, the polls are tightening and the news isn't looking good for Democrats as they try to hang on to the Senate.

The one ray of sunshine for Democrats is in North Carolina where a new Elon University poll shows Sen. Kay Hagan with a 4 point lead over Republican Thom Tillis, thanks to a big edge among women voters.

The bad news starts in Colorado, where incumbent Democrat Mark Udall is down 7 points to Republican Congressman Cory Gardner.

And the latest shocker: a new University of Arkansas poll shows a blow-out in that state's Senate race with Republican Congressman Tom Cotton crushing Democratic incumbent Mark Pryor with just five days to go.

But it isn't just the Senate that pollsters are keeping a close watch on as the elections near: there are a few governor's races in key battleground states that could decide what happens in the next national election.
