Samantha Power, the newly-installed U.S. representative to the United Nations, presented her credentials to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Monday at the body’s New York City headquarters.

She was confirmed last week as America’s permanent representative to the U.N. and was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden.

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell reported that Power was in Washington, D.C. over the weekend and attended a National Security Council principals’ meeting on the terror threat that caused the State Department to shutter nearly two dozen embassies over the weekend.
