Economic woes continue to torment the jobless

In this sluggish economic recovery, the long-term unemployed are getting hit against – this time by Congress. Even though lawmakers extended federal benefits back in February, they also cut the number of weeks of benefits and since then the jobless have lost up to five months of benefits. The Economist’s Greg Ip discusses.
